On December 9, 1664 she gave notice to her marriage with <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Jan J. Hinlopen\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jan_J._Hinlopen\">Jan J. Hinlopen<\/a>; she was accompanied by her mother, Machteld Pater. On January 6, 1665 the couple married in the <a title=\"Nieuwe Kerk (Amsterdam)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nieuwe_Kerk_%28Amsterdam%29\">Nieuwe Kerk<\/a>. <a title=\"Jan Vos (poet)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jan_Vos_%28poet%29\">Jan Vos<\/a> wrote a poem for the happy occasion.<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup> On November 13, 1665 Lucia gave birth to a still born child, buried the next day. In 1666 Hinlopen commissioned a painting from <a title=\"Bartholomeus van der Helst\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bartholomeus_van_der_Helst\">Bartholomeus van der Helst<\/a> of the 27-year-old Lucia, himself and three hunting dogs, but showing his deceased first wife and children in the background.<sup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup> In September 1666 Jan J. Hinlopen, rather stocky built, died at the age of forty. Lucia lived with her two stepchildren on <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Kloveniersburgwal\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kloveniersburgwal\">Kloveniersburgwal<\/a>, next to her brother-in-law <a title=\"Jacob J. Hinlopen\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jacob_J._Hinlopen\">Jacob J. Hinlopen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Having a portrait of yourself became very popular in the Netherlands after 1660, and a portrait functioned as a sort of a <a title=\"Personal web page\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Personal_web_page\">personal web page<\/a>. Lucia Wijbrants had herself painted in 1666 by <a title=\"Lodewijk van der Helst\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lodewijk_van_der_Helst\">Lodewijk van der Helst<\/a> (1642\u20131684). This painting by the son of <a title=\"Bartholomeus van der Helst\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bartholomeus_van_der_Helst\">Bartholomeus van der Helst<\/a> is now in the <a title=\"Museum of Fine Arts (Budapest)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Museum_of_Fine_Arts_%28Budapest%29\">Museum of Fine Arts (Budapest)<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-5\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-5\">[5]<\/a><\/sup> According to her will on June 27, 1716, she had her portrait painted by <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Gabriel Metsu\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gabriel_Metsu\">Gabriel Metsu<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-6\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-6\">[6]<\/a><\/sup> Metsu painted only a few portraits in his lifetime; the resemblance with the one from 1667, now in Minneapolis, and two other portraits of Lucia is striking. On the painting one can see a chandelier. It could be one of the two silver chandeliers given by <a title=\"Joan Huydecoper II\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joan_Huydecoper_II\">Joan Huydecoper II<\/a> and his wife to the parents of Sara Hinlopen on September 10, 1660, two months after her birth.<sup id=\"cite_ref-7\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-7\">[7]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<div class=\"thumb tleft\">\n<div class=\"thumbinner\">\n<p><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:Keizersgracht_213.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbimage alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/4\/44\/Keizersgracht_213.jpg\/300px-Keizersgracht_213.jpg\" srcset=\"\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/4\/44\/Keizersgracht_213.jpg\/450px-Keizersgracht_213.jpg 1.5x, \/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/4\/44\/Keizersgracht_213.jpg 2x\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" data-file-width=\"520\" data-file-height=\"473\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"thumbcaption\">\n<p>Keizersgracht 213 in the middle, a house known as <i>Belief<\/i>, not existing anymore. The neighboring houses were called <i>Hope<\/i> and <i>Love<\/i>. <a title=\"Engraving\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Engraving\">Engraving<\/a> around 1770 by <a class=\"new\" title=\"Caspar Phillips (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Caspar_Phillips&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Caspar Phillips<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Within a few years it became clear she did not get along with Johanna Maria and <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Geelvinck-Hinlopen Huis\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Geelvinck-Hinlopen_Huis\">Sara Hinlopen<\/a>, two rich, self-aware or may be jaded orphans.<sup id=\"cite_ref-8\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-8\">[8]<\/a><\/sup> Lucia moved in with her mother at <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Herengracht\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Herengracht\">Herengracht<\/a> and remarried Johan van Nellesteyn (1617\u20131677) on February 29, 1672 in <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Sloten (North Holland)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sloten_%28North_Holland%29\">Sloten<\/a>. In their marriage contract is stated she gave him her portrait by <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Jurriaen Ovens\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jurriaen_Ovens\">Jurriaen Ovens<\/a>, a <a title=\"Holstein\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Holstein\">Holstein<\/a> painter, who from time to time lived in Amsterdam.<sup id=\"cite_ref-9\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-9\">[9]<\/a><\/sup> If he would die before her, she would inherit 8.000 guilders and the inventory, but not the library, nor the portraits. In the same year she claimed from the estate of her late husband.<sup id=\"cite_ref-10\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-10\">[10]<\/a><\/sup> In 1718 the ladies Hinlopen received the a diamond ring, a necklace with 39 pearls, two silver chandeliers, a silver box, a silver comb and an oval silver plate(?) from their former stepmother.<sup id=\"cite_ref-11\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-11\">[11]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>When she died, it seems, everybody important attended her funeral in <a title=\"Westerkerk\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Westerkerk\">Westerkerk<\/a>. She was related to <a title=\"Jan Commelin\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jan_Commelin\">Jan Commelin<\/a> and <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Caspar Commelin\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caspar_Commelin\">Caspar Commelin<\/a>, two famous Dutch <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Botanist\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Botanist\">botanists<\/a>. Her sister Helena and Machteld Wijbrants, her niece, inherited all her belongings. Machteld on her turn left everything to <a class=\"new\" title=\"Hester Hinlopen (page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Hester_Hinlopen&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Hester Hinlopen<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-12\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-12\">[12]<\/a><\/sup> In the 19th century the portrait of Lucia belonged to <a title=\"Nathan Mayer Rothschild\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nathan_Mayer_Rothschild\">Nathan Mayer Rothschild<\/a>. Since 1992 the painting can be seen in the <a title=\"Minneapolis Institute of Art\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Minneapolis_Institute_of_Art\">Minneapolis Institute of Art<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Johan_van_Nellesteyn\" class=\"mw-headline\">Johan van Nellesteyn<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Van Nellesteyn was a <a title=\"Burgomaster\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Burgomaster\">burgomaster<\/a> in the city of <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Utrecht (city)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Utrecht_%28city%29\">Utrecht<\/a> in the years 1654\u20131656, 1658\u20131660, 1664, 1665. After his second wife, Hillegonda Pater, had died in 1670 married Lucia Wijbrants.<sup id=\"cite_ref-13\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Lucia_Wijbrants&amp;printable=yes#cite_note-13\">[13]<\/a><\/sup> In 1672, a year which is called by the Dutch <a title=\"Rampjaar\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rampjaar\">the disaster year<\/a>, Johan van Nellesteyn and his wife were fleeing from Utrecht, when the city was occupied by the French army under <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Louis XIV\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Louis_XIV\">Louis XIV<\/a>. Nellesteyn and his brother-in-law, Jacob Martens, moved their belongings to Amsterdam by boat.
